About
Decades of forms, workflows, and content.
Gyassa Software is Samuel White and Eva Cordes. For decades we have built software that stores, routes, and manages business information.
Samuel White
A founding developer of the Stellent content management system, and the architect of the data-driven ideas behind KotlinDynamicRuntime: schema and configuration kept as source-controlled data, which he has been writing about since 2012.
Eva Cordes
A founding developer of the Stellent content management system, and the developer who implemented its workflow. She reviews the changes that go into KotlinDynamicRuntime.
From Stellent to Gedra
Stellent's content management system was acquired by Oracle and became Oracle Universal Content Management, used by large organizations around the world. In 2010 we founded Gyassa Software to keep building in the same direction, and spent the following years refining one idea: the parts of an application that matter most belong in declarative, source-controlled data.
In 2026 we rebuilt that idea from scratch as KotlinDynamicRuntime, with AI writing the code under our direction. Gedra is what it became: a platform for forms and the work around them.
The names
Gyassa is a lateen-sailed cargo boat of the Nile. We chose it because we want to make software that is useful and depended on for daily work. The longer story.
Gedra began as KDR, KotlinDynamicRuntime's initials. Given vowels, it became Kedra; with Gyassa's G in place of the K, Gedra. It is both the platform's name and the name of the record at its heart: every form, user, and file it stores is a Gedra entry.
